

What are dual reflective window films?
The term “dual reflective” for window film, essentially means it will help year-round either keeping heat out or keeping heat in. Also known as all season window films, using metals to help insulate the glass throughout the year. During the summer it will help keep the sun’s heat out, in the winter it helps reduce heat loss through the glass. These films vary in emissivity or heat loss, but can be effective in reducing heat loss through the window. Dual reflective films are offered in a variety of shades, varying from almost clear to extremely dark and reflective. Each film offers up to 99% UV Ray protection, along with varying heat rejection and glare control, depending on the darkness of the film. The lightest is a 50% film that offers 44% heat rejection, 49% glare reduction with a slightly tinted look. The 35% film gives you about 53% heat rejection, better glare reduction and add some daytime privacy to the window. The 35% is slightly reflective from the outside due to the darkness of the film adding a mirror finish to the exterior.
The darker dual reflective films offer great heat rejection, glare reduction and daytime privacy. These films include a 25% film that blocks 70% of the light coming through the window and has a dulled mirror look from the exterior. The 25% blocks about 62% of the heat and reduces nearly 64% of the glare. The 15% film blocks about 82% of the heat and about 89% of the glare. This film was very effective for heat rejection, glare reduction and daytime privacy. At last, but not least a 5% film that is extremely dark from both sides and a mirror finish from the exterior. 83% heat, rejection and glare reduction in the 92% range. This film is commonly used for commercial buildings and one way mirrors for security.
